Turkey Highlights and Crusing on the Mediterranean

Friday, September 12, 2014

A highlight of our Grand Sultan tour is touring around the Mediterranean coast of Turkey. However for those passengers enjoying our shorter Turkey Highlights tour, we recommend a 3 day or weeklong Gulet cruise.

A gulet (Turkish pronunciation: [ɡuˈlet]) is a traditional design of a two-masted or three-masted wooden sailing vessel (the most common design has two masts) from the southwestern coast of Turkey, particularly built in the coastal towns of Bodrum and Marmaris; although similar vessels can be found all around the eastern Mediterranean.

A great way to round out your Turkish adventure

Friday, September 12, 2014
If you can cast away the negative image portrayed by some Western countries and take a trip to Iran (formerly Persia), you will be richly rewarded by your experience. Our Treasures of Persia tour allows the full riches of Iran to be experience by you.

In Iran, you’ll experience a proud nation wanting to be seen for what it is, rather than what it is perceived to be. Whether you’re travelling in cities like Esfahan, the Zagros Mountains of Central Iran or the deserts around Kerman, the real Iran will be revealed. At its core you will discover a country of warm and fascinating people living within an ancient and sophisticated culture.

Embrace Iran, and allow the Iranians to embrace you. As the Lonely Planet puts it “it’s the most priceless of experiences”.

The Silk Road - follow in the steps of Marco Polo

Friday, September 12, 2014
The Silk Road, the greatest land-based trading highway the world has ever seen, stretched all the way from China, through Central Asia to Europe. Central Asia which became the best known part to the West through Marco Polo’s writings was the heart of the Silk Road.

Two of the main countries traversed by this legendary route are Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan. Names like Ashgabat, Bukhara, Samarkand and Tashkent evoke intrigue and mystery of this captivating region. With fascinating kales (castles), exquisitely decorated madrassas (Islamic high educational institution), towering minarets, colourful markets, these cities have a rich architectural and cultural heritage.

They are living, breathing centres for traditional art, varied cuisine and folkloric performances.

Grand Sultan tour of Turkey is our most popular tour.

It is not just a tour but a journey of discovery designed for first time visitors to Turkey who wish to not only see the usual highlights but also go off the beaten track to see the real Turkey.

The tour covers:
  • fascinating and colourful Istanbul
  • the beautiful and moving battlefields of Gallipoli
  • legendary historical sites such as Troy and Ephesus
  • traditional villages and enchanting bays along the Turquoise Coast
  • the surreal landscapes and underground cities of Cappadocia
In addition, you can also choose to experience the Black Sea region, adorned with majestic mountains, lush foresets and experience something more off the beaten track. Be one of the few westerners to experience this region of Turkey and be welcomed by the locals to 'their country'.

Travelling into the east, you can experience archeological marvels of the east from ancient times. See the recently discovered Goktepe, beehive houses of Harran or Old Testament towns locked in time.
