Allure of Azerbaijan Tour (7 Days / 6 Nights)

Day 1: - Arrive in Baku
Arrive in Baku. Meet and transfer to hotel. (It is expected that most, if not all, travelers will arrive from Istanbul in late afternoon).DINNER is at the hotel. (D)

Day 2: - In Baku

After breakfast at the hotel, we go on a walking tour of Baku, including the medieval walled city "Icheri Sheher" with its narrow alleyways, historic caravanserais, mosques and Palace of the Shirvanshahs. We continue our city tour visiting the 12th century Maiden’s Tower; the imposing mansions of the oil barons, built in the oil boom of 1870-1914 and Martyr’s Alley with its superb views over the Bay of Baku.

LUNCH (in a local Restaurant/Café) which is followed by a trip to the Absheron Peninsula to see the Zoroastrian Fire Temple and Yanardagh (Burning Mountain). DINNER is at a traditional local restaurant. (B/L/D)

Day 3: Baku - Gobustan

After breakfast at the hotel, we drive to Gobustan to see ancient petroglyphes. We then drive back to the city for LUNCH at a local restaurant/café. In the afternoon, we visit the carpet museum with its exquisite collection of Azeri carpets. Rest of the day and evening are at leisure in Baku to do as you please. In the evening, you can try the culinary delights on offer in this city as dinner is NOT included. (B/L)

Day 4: Baku-Shamakhi -Sheki

Breakfast at hotel, we depart for the Caucasus Mountains in the northwest of Azerbaijan. The dry landscape around Baku gives way to a densely forested mountain area. We visit the town of Shemakha, Juma Mosque and Yeddi Gumbez before LUNCH in a local restaurant. After lunch, we drive to Sheki and check in at Karvansaray Hotel. In the afternoon, we go on an excursion into the countryside to the village of Kish with the oldest church in the Caucasus dating from the first century. There will be opportunity to enjoy walks in the surrounding foothills of the Caucasus mountains. DINNER at a good local restaurant. (B/L/D)

Day 5: Sheki – Kish - Baku

This morning, we visit the Royal Summer Palace of the Sheki Khans with its magnificent frescoes and stained glass as well as Sheki Museum and Fortress. This is followed by a visit to the Sheki Markets. We then travel back to Baku with LUNCH on the way at a good restaurant .In late afternoon, we arrive in Baku and transfer to hotel. Dinner is not included. (B/L)

Day 6: Sun 07 Oct: Baku-Guba-Baku

After breakfast, we drive to Guba with a tea stop at Beshbarmag Mountain (Sacred Site). W arrive at Guba and go on a Guba City Tour before LUNCH at a local café. In the afternoon, we see the Krasnaya Sloboda Jewish Settlement and pay a visit to the Qadim Quba carpet weaving facilities with photo-stop at panoramic sites. In the afternoon, we drive back to Baku. DINNER is at our hotel (B/L/D)

Day 7: In Baku and departure

After breakfast at hotel, the tour ends. We transfer to Airport for our flight to home country OR onward destinations, e.g. Iran for those participating in the Treasures of Persia tour, as appropriate. (B)
